W sitting is a situation where the child sits with his \/ her hips resting in flexion, internal rotation and adduction. This is commonly first seen at age 1 – 2 years and may persist till 3 – 4 years of age. W sitting may just be a matter of habit without the need for any medical intervention. So then which children\u00a0should be discouraged from sitting in\u00a0W position for extended periods of time?<\/p>\n

W sitting for extended\u00a0periods may aggravate pre-existing conditions like:<\/span><\/h3>\n

* Hip Dysplasia.<\/span>
\n* Muscle tightness of hamstring, hip adductors, internal rotators and tendo achilles.<\/span>
\n* Neuro Developmental delay with\u00a0poor\u00a0posture stability and mid line crossing.<\/span><\/h3>\n
