Femoral anteversion causes the child\u2019s knees and feet to turn inward, or have what is also known as a \u201cpigeon-toed\u201d appearance. It is twice as likely to be seen in girls and most typically occurs among toddlers.            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"elementskit-single-faq elementor-repeater-item-4e6358e\">\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-header\">\n                <h2 class=\"elementskit-faq-title\">What causes femoral anteversion?<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-body\">\n                Femoral anteversion can be the result of stiff hip muscles due to the position of the baby in the uterus. It also has a tendency to run in families. Typically, a child\u2019s walking style looks like that of his\/her parents.\n\nWhen the child is first learning how to walk, femoral anteversion can create an intoeing appearance. As the knees and feet turn in, the legs look like they are bowed. The bowed leg stance actually helps the child achieve greater balance as they stand. Balance is not as steady when they try to stand and walk with their feet close together or with their feet turned out. This may cause them to trip and fall.            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"elementskit-single-faq elementor-repeater-item-4727054\">\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-header\">\n                <h2 class=\"elementskit-faq-title\">Treatment for femoral anteversion<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-body\">\n                Specific treatment for femoral anteversion will be determined by your child\u2019s physician based on:<br>\n<ul>\n<li>your child\u2019s age, overall health, and medical history<\/li>\n<li>the extent of the condition<\/li>\n<li>your child\u2019s tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies<\/li>\n<li>expectations for the course of the condition<\/li>\n<li>your opinion or preference<\/li>\n<\/ul><br>\nThe twisting in of the thigh bone usually improves with time. During the examination, the physician obtains a complete prenatal and birth history of the child and asks if other family members are known to have femoral anteversion.<br>\nOther diagnostic procedures may include:\n<ul>\n<li>x-ray&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;a diagnostic test which uses invisible electromagnetic energy beams to produce images of internal tissues, bones, and organs onto film.<\/li>\n<li>computed tomography (Also called CT or CAT scan.)&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of x-rays and computer technology to produce cross-sectional images (often called slices), both horizontally and vertically, of the body. A CT scan shows detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, fat, and organs. CT scans are more detailed than general x-rays.<\/li>\n<li>magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;a diagnostic procedure that uses a combination of large magnets, radiofrequencies, and a computer to produce detailed images of organs and structures within the body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, some physicians place ink or chalk on the bottom of the child\u2019s feet and have them walk on paper to evaluate the amount of intoeing the child has.\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n                <div class=\"elementskit-single-faq elementor-repeater-item-ab923af\">\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-header\">\n                <h2 class=\"elementskit-faq-title\">Long-term outlook for a child with femoral anteversion<\/h2>\n            <\/div>\n            <div class=\"elementskit-faq-body\">\n                Femoral anteversion has a very good prognosis. Many cases correct themselves as the child grows.
